Windows 365 has completely changed how I approach cloud computing. With its seamless setup and flexibility, it allows users to dive into cloud PCs without any complex setup. There’s no need for an on-premises infrastructure or intricate Azure configurations to get started. And best of all, Windows 365 integrates directly with existing tools like Intune, making it a smooth addition to an organization’s device management workflow.

Here’s why Windows 365 has quickly become my top recommendation for VDI scenarios, external access, and applications used on a limited basis, like older ERP systems, where Frontline licenses offer a cost-effective solution.

Effortless Setup with Optional Azure Networking

Getting started with Windows 365 is as easy as it gets. The only reason to consider additional Azure configuration is if you want to use an Azure network. This can allow you to connect directly to your local network via VPN, giving you a traditional connection to your in-house resources. However, I prefer using Entra Private Access with the Global Secure Access client. Entra’s zero-trust approach offers a more secure and streamlined option, making it simple to maintain high security across users and devices without relying on a VPN. This setup keeps cloud PCs protected and limits access to only the necessary resources, aligning perfectly with today’s security standards.

Enhanced Security with Zero-Trust Access

Security is at the core of Windows 365. This making it a great choice for businesses prioritizing data protection and secure access. One of the standout features is its compatibility with Entra Private Access, allowing you to adopt a zero-trust approach with ease. This model ensures that every access request is verified based on user identity, device health, and location, making it difficult for unauthorized users to access sensitive data.

Global Secure Access allows you to implement a zero-trust setup for Windows 365 across all cloud PCs. This provides consistent security, whether users are on the company network or working remotely. Each cloud PC remains secured, regardless of where it's accessed. You can also configure policies in Intune to enforce conditional access, further enhancing security for each device within your control.

By centralizing security and maintaining robust controls over access, Windows 365 provides peace of mind for both IT teams and end-users, ensuring data stays protected without complicating the user experience.

Utilize Existing Intune Configurations

One of the best aspects of Windows 365 is how it uses Intune configurations that are already in place. If your engineers and support teams are familiar with Intune, there’s virtually no learning curve—cloud PCs show up right in their existing Intune console. The management of cloud PCs has almost the same capabilities as physical hardware devices, allowing IT teams to handle configurations, policies, and updates all in one view. This streamlined approach means your team can focus on management rather than retraining, saving time and effort.

Simple Licensing Model

Windows 365 also stands out with its straightforward licensing model. Unlike traditional setups, Windows 365 offers clear options that can accommodate both full-time and part-time users. For companies with shift-based or part-time employees, the Frontline license is a great option. It provides a cost-efficient way to support users who may not need continuous access, making it a flexible choice that keeps costs down while covering everyone who needs a cloud PC.

Universal Access Across Platforms

Windows 365 offers great flexibility. You can access it from any device. It works on all platforms. Log in from PCs, tablets, or mobile devices.
Using an iPad or iPhone is easy. A USB-C Thunderbolt 4 dock turns them into powerful workstations. Attach a keyboard and monitor. You have a full desktop experience.

Windows 365 transformed my work. It made cloud computing easy. User-friendly setup, Intune integration, flexible licensing, and universal access make it ideal for businesses. It's secure, scalable, and flexible. It adapts to any work.
